The story behind our mother-daughter duo.
It all begins with an single mother and her daughter. It’s the early 90’s and the two were thick as thieves. By the time Brittany was 16, they were the real life version of Gilmore Girls. Although, there is a step dad in the picture at this point, the business was still only a dream. Until today, that dream of a mother daughter business is ALIVE, and REAL!
Shannon was 22 years old when she had Brittany in 1993. You can do the math to figure out our ages now. As Brit was being brought up into the world, already very independent, she was being groomed by her mother and daddio as a strong independent woman who didn’t need a man, unless it was dad. Obviously!
Being tall and thin, lead Brittany to modeling very early on, but Shannon didn’t want that for her daughter. She wanted Brittany to be reliant on her brains, not just looks. She knew it would be difficult to get out of modeling and into the real world, so why even start down that path, so she pushed Brittany to go to college and get a college degree. Brittany has a Fashion Design degree and two degrees in Business, one of them being a MBA!
So yes, we are a real life version of Gilmore Girls, except we are - SOUTHERLAND GIRLS!
